This catalogue was published on the occasion of an exhibition dedicated to the work of René Rimbert, presented at the Dina Vierny Gallery from November 1983 to January 1984.
"When asked if he considers himself a naive painter, Rimbert modestly responds, 'Let's say, self-taught.' Uhde described him in 1933 as follows: he and Jean Eve are the only ones today who still have a profession outside of painting, but although he works at the post office, his life is entirely in his silent and solemn paintings, which, though few, mature like beautiful fruits in the sun of his heart."
