He often went to admire the sculptures in the park at Versailles, where the layout of perspectives designed by Le Nôtre enhanced the beauty of the statues by Coysevox, the Coustou brothers, and Girardon. Above all, he loved the softness of the bluish tones of the lead sculptures reflected in the large basins. He envisioned a place that could truly embrace his work."
